Soft power switch not transmitting some usb device data and reverse power

I have a soft power switch mk2 usbc and I am hooking it to a phone then to a usbc ethernet adaptor with a usbc charger port. I have several different adaptors and not all of them work through the switch but the adaptor works fine without the soft switch in the middle. I did get 2 adaptors to work and it appears to limit the data pass though should I expect this?

second question is after I turn on the switch it powers up the adaptor but when I plug in the usbc charger to the power port is blocks the 5 volts from charging the phone. is there a work around

Hi Paul (@pcbrown100 ),

I am having a hard time understanding which way you have the soft power switch hooked up. Is the phone the power source? Or is it the ethernet adaptor or the usbc charger? Could you post a photo, or a sketch diagram?

The soft power switch passes through the D+/D- USB 2.0 signals (A6 and A7) only. If your ethernet adaptor needs the extra SuperSpeed TX and RX pairs, it won’t work through the power switch.

There are no CC resistors on the output connector, only on the input. Also the CC signals are not passed through. I suspect that is why your charger isn’t working. But, again, please post a photo or a sketch of what you are trying to achieve.

Best wishes,
Paul

When I plug into the usbc charge port it doesn’t charge the phone

Hi Paul (@pcbrown100 ),

Thank you for the update.

There is a diode path that allows current to flow from OUT to IN, but I suspect your charge port is not working for the reasons I described in my first post. Sadly, you’re asking the power switch to do something it wasn’t designed to do.

Thank you for supporting our products.

Best wishes,
