Spark ounk wiring question

Hi. I’m new to electronics and would like to know if I can wire the potentiometers of the spark ounk so as to mount them into a surface apart from the board… Like can I solder them to wires, mount the potentiometers, have about 6 inches of wire running to the board and then solder those ends to the board?

Can I also do this for the power button and the photocells? I guess what I’m asking is: can I set up the controls so that they can be mounted in different spots on a surface rather than have all of the controls mounted to the pcb? Thanks in advance!

Jay

That should be OK but there is the possibility that long leads could change how the circuit functions.

Just keep the wires as short as possible and you will probably be OK.

Awesome! Thank you! I suppose I could test this before soldering the potentiometers and all? If I were to use longer leads, should I wrap the connections in shrink or tape? Thanks for your time!

You’re almost certainly going to need to solder the connections, anything pops lose and it just won’t work. Heat shrink or tape wouldn’t be a bad idea to prevent things from shorting out.

Great! Thanks again!
