Hi,
I uploaded the default Blink sketch from the arduino ide. The sketch was successful the led on pin 5 is blinking. But, if I unplug and then plug in the usb port from the esp32 to my computer a message pops up saying “Unrecognized usb device.” Any suggestions for how I could fix this problem. Currently the board is useless since I cannot upload code to it.
In device manager there is a usb device with an error. It says:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
A request for the USB device descriptor failed.
Thank you,
Rose
Hi Rose,
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your ESP32 Thing. I have a few quick questions to get a better idea of the issue. First, are you at [this section of our Hookup Guide? Also, what operating system and version of Arduino are you using? If you right-click on the USB device showing that error are you able to select “Unistall Device” or “Update Drivers”? If so, try updating the drivers and see if that helps. If not, you might need to go through the installation instructions from FTDI depending on what operating system you are using. Here is a link to FTDI’s [Installation Guides so if updating the driver does not work, select the guide for your operating system and follow along.
I hope this helps you fix the issue but if you continue to have problems with the ESP32 Thing, let me know and we can troubleshoot further.](https://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documents/InstallGuides.htm)](ESP32 Thing Hookup Guide - SparkFun Learn)
Hi Mark,
So I was able to upload code to the board after using a different usb port. A little weird since I used the old usb port to upload code in the first place.
Well that is weird. I’m glad to hear you have fixed the problem, though! Let us know if you run into any other issues or have any other questions about the ESP32 Thing or any other SparkFun products you have and we would be happy to help!
