Can the SparkFun Papa Soundie Audio Player be powered with a 9V battery and can it be triggered with a PIR? I only want to have one audio file that will be played when a PIR is triggered on the falling edge(high to low).
The Papa Soundie can only be powered with 6 volts at the most so a 9 volt battery won’t work.
You can use a PIR with the Papa Soundie but it must have 3.3 volt I/O, the board can not handle 5 volt I/O.
See the [hookup guide for an example using the board with a PIR sensor.](Papa Soundie Audio Player Hookup Guide - SparkFun Learn)
The schematic states Vin can be between 3.3 and 9 volts. Is the schematic incorrect?
Are there any audio players that will accept a 9v input voltage?
Our documentation lists 6 volts as the max, I believe the schematic may be incorrect.
The [WAV Trigger will work with a 9 volt input, you might give that a look.](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13660)
I actually have a WAV trigger and it works well. The problem is that the WAV trigger is 2X the cost of the Papa Soundie. I really want something that is compact, triggered by a PIR, battery operated and cost effective. 9V batteries are more compact than AA batteries.
