SparkFun Simultaneous RFID Reader - M7E Hecto

Following the introduction guide “https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_Simultaneous_RFID_Reader_M7E/introduction/”
• From the computer connected USB-C to the board
• I can see that there is a red led on for power
• Confirmed that the board is set to USB on the UART switch
• Installed the Universal Reader Assistant
• Can see that it is connected to COM4 on my machine and in the Universal Reader Assistant
• What is diffarent to the tutorial is that in teh tutorial the Reader Name is USB-SERIAL CH340 then a bunch of numbers (COM4). This is also referenced in the video.
• When I select Next I get an error

Tested
• I have tried this from 2 separate machines, both machines are running windows 11.
• Tried different USB-C cables
o Same result
• Tried USB-A to USB-C
o Same result

Do you have any thoughts on why i cannot connect to the

Try making sure that you run the program ‘as administrator’ and see if that helps

Also be sure to grab the ch340 drivers if you haven’t already

The guide also days you can click skip, not sure if that’ll help or hinder…

Thank you for your reply, i spent a bit of time yesterday and finaly got it working.
Seems you need to upgrade the Universal Reader Assistan to the latest version. This will then support the M7E Hecto.
Version i installed that worked - Universal Reader Assistant 6.3
Below is a screen shot of the versions LEft did not work right worked
