SparkFun Sound Detector: Microphone Replacement

Dear SparkFun Forums,

I am working on a project where I would like to wire a face microphone into the SparkFun Sound Detector where the microphone capsule is currently fixed. I intend the face mic to work exactly the same as a sound detector, not as a recording microphone, but just mounted as a face mic.

I’ve purchased a t.bone TWS One Headset, which after contacting t.bone, I know has a very similar “generic electret capsule which works with 2-5V voltage”. This device is usually powered by a small transmitter module (which I don’t have) that uses 2 x AA batteries. If that response from t.bone is enough information to answer my question, then I hereby pose it below:

Given the power requirements of this microphone, can I simply wire it into where the existing microphone capsule is on the SparkFun Sound Detector?

Kindly awaiting your response,

Miles

That should work, though the t.bone mic may require a different resistor (unlikely, but worth mentioning) - run through the hookup guide here https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/so … ing-closer which shows many diagrams with explanations of how you could modify the board to suit your project

<3 Thank you!
