Transducer application

I would like to put together a bone conducting hearing aid since my left eardrum and associated bones in left ear are dysfunctional. I happened upon sparkfun and am thinking I can use one of your small sound transducers, attach it some way to my head near my left ear. I assume I would also need a mic, an audio circuit with possible signal processing, and an amplifier. I did get a BSEE in 1990, but am otherwise clueless. Any direction would be greatly appreciated!!
