SparkFun "Stranger Things" wall, question

Hey all (NOt sure if SF guy @SFUptownMaker is here)

I was pretty blown away by the SF Stranger Things wall:

These neopixels require 4 wires. But it looks like he is using the original wiring provided by the C7 holiday lights. Anyone have details how he achieves such a clean 2-wire look?

Update: I found the answer on one of the SF posts. (It seems like there were multiple SF posts, each with varying levels of detail, and you had to find all the posts to get the big picture).

Anyways, he used USB cable and made it look like the original wiring.

My goal is to use the original wiring, and run a third hookup wire along the light set. (There’s 4 pins, but really only 3 wires, since the third wire acts as data in and out to each LED in the chain)…
