Spectacle Sound Kit In stock KIT-14487 RoHS

Can anyone tell me if the Spectacle Sound Kit In stock KIT-14487 RoHS is everything I need to play back music files that we load? How would they be loaded? Can we use a photoelectric sensor to activate a the Sound Kit to play a music file and set it to automatically repeat the next time the sensor is activated?

Thank you very much,

David

Hi David.

The Spectacle Sound Kit works good with push buttons, but sadly isn’t going to work with a photocell.

What I’d recommend is something like the following:

  • - [[SparkFun RedBoard Qwiic](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15123)
  • - [[SparkFun Qwiic MP3 Trigger](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15165)
  • - [[100mm Qwiic Cable](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14427)
  • [/list]

These combined with a photocell & resistor plus a little bit of code should work nicely. You will need to do a bit of programming, but the guides below should help get you started with that.

Your music would be stored on a micro SD card as MP3 files and loading them onto the card is as easy as inserting the SD card into your computer and copying your music files onto the card.](https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/photocell-hookup-guide)](Qwiic MP3 Trigger Hookup Guide - SparkFun Learn)](Qwiic Cable - 100mm - PRT-14427 - SparkFun Electronics)](SparkFun Qwiic MP3 Trigger - DEV-15165 - SparkFun Electronics)](SparkFun RedBoard Qwiic - DEV-15123 - SparkFun Electronics)

So can we use the sensor to activate a relay which would act as a push button switch to kick of the Spectacle sound kit? In any case, rest assured that I know absolutely nothing about any of this stuff and I am counting on you to guide me through it. I liked what your guy said in the video about how we’ve already learned what we do and Sparkfun wants us to be able to employ products without needing to learn another industry. Additionally, we are looking for the easiest system to incorporate into our product for sound and lighting so we would use these regularly. Here is a vimeo link to a type of product we want to use more of. This one cost us thousands to have developed. Since then, much better/cheaper ways to do this type of thing have come onto the market. https://vimeo.com/287650927

    Hi phridge.

Yes, as long your system is able to activate a relay, the normally open contacts on the relay could be used to replace a pushbutton on the Spectacle Sound Kit. That would emulate a button press and play the associated sound.
