Stepping on a pressure sensors ?

Hello

First of, sorry for my bad english.

Im planing to build an electric loangboard. So before I starting, I’m resurching the different parts I need to make it work. The thing Im thinking about right now is the controll of the speed. I was thinking about using 2 pressure sensors for each foot. So when I lean forward the board goes forward and when I leen back it slowly stops. To do this I am of course using the arduino. But when I’m looking at the different pressure sensors. They only take about 25lb. Now Im about 220 punds. So what I am wondering is if im only going to get max pressure on the sensors all the time. I am also looking at a Load Sensor (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10245) I see that it can take about 50 kg and I guess that should work, but Im worrid about the size of it.

My question is what are your thought about this? What is the best sensor to get this working?

Wow, you’re going to make a electric version of one of these !?!

I agree that the pressure sensors might be overloaded. Let me suggest another possible route. You could of course go wired to a handheld controller but that’s been done and wires can trip you up. Wireless has also been done but it won’t trip you up. If you went with BT, you could control the board via your phone (might make a fall somewhat expensive though).

You might look into what these guys used.

I assume your concept is similar.

FWIW the load sensors you linked to appear smaller than the “hockey pucks” above. Is size that much of a concern ?
