Thing Plus - ESP32-S2 WROOM WRL - Unknown USB Device

I recently started working with two SparkFun Thing Plus - ESP32-S2 WROOM WRL-17743 (SparkFun Thing Plus - ESP32-S2 WROOM - WRL-17743 - SparkFun Electronics). Both of them are not working. Both boards do not create COM ports, and both show in Windows 11 Settings as “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).” On one board the blue LED blinks, and on the other it doesn’t light at all.

I tried different sequences of pushing the boot and reset buttons, but with no effect.

How can I restore these boards?
