I would like to verify my reasoning, when Report Tip Altitude: Enabled
and Tilt Compensation: Enabled
should SW Maps Instrument Height
be set to 0.00 (zero)?
The āreal-worldā issue with Tilt Compensation is your Software needs a way to know when the tilt mode is active or not (as the HI changes significantly).
Iām not aware of a method to do that with SW Maps + the Torch, but I could be wrong.
When Report Tip Altitude: Enabled
, is the altitude reported at the tip regardless of Tilt Compensation on or not? Therefore SW Maps or any other NMEA 0183 compliant receiver would not need to compensate for the pole height?
Great Question⦠IDK.
That is correct. The RTK Torch modifies the height before transmitting over Bluetooth to your GIS app. So if you enable āReport Tip Altitudeā, then set your Instrument height to 0.0 in your GIS app.
