Tsunami - Pick-off for Subwoofer

I’m setting up sound and animation on my train layout. I have 3 pairs of stereo speakers that will cover three separate areas. One pair for the roundhouse, one pair for the machine shop and one pair for the engine service area. This last pair will have seven different sound tracks initiated by momentary type push buttons the other two pairs will each have one soundtrack. I want to have one subwoofer that can cover all 9 soundtracks for the three pairs of speakers. I’m planning to use the Tsunami WAV Trigger. Looking at the schematic I’m trying to find a place where I can pick off the stereo track coming from the SD card before it gets split out to the four stereo outputs. I’m hoping I can insert a 3.5mm stereo mini plug here to connect the sub. Is there a test point I could tap into for this?

Hi Tom.

I don’t believe the Tsunami is capable of doing what you’re trying to do. The only thing I can think of that would work would be to use an external mixer that monitors all the outputs and then goes to a low pass filter that strips out all the high end and then sends that onto an output on the mixer. There’s not any way in the firmware I see that can mux everything to a single output.

Thanks Chris. If I could just drag this out a little more. On U4 there are two pairs of stereo outputs (#5+6) on pins 25 through 28. Pins 27 and 28 go to TP 3+4. Can you tell me what information would be found at these four outputs? Should I contact Robertsonics about what I’m trying to do here and if yes, what would be a good address to write to? Really appreciate your help.

As far as I know, those are unused and don't output anything. It's possible that something shows up at the test points during initial programming but I don't have any information that would confirm that.

We don't have a public facing contact for Robertsonics, but they do monitor the forums and may reply to your question here. I don't know how often they check so it may take a week or two to get a response.
