Turrent terminals, do they have any electrical advantages or disadvantages?

Hello,

I know basic electronics, and I’m moving on to the more advanced stuff.

In seeing the insides of some older, very precise, equipment, I noticed that the connections for the sensitive parts are (sometimes) on turret terminals. Is there an electrical advantage or disadvantage to doing that?

I do know they make resoldering easier and provide some strain relief.

Thanks!

Those are popular for solderability and extended shelf life.

What do you mean by “shelf life”? I know metal has a good shelf life, but how does that affect the build?
