Unicore Galileo HAS bug?

I looked at Postcard, and while that low cost, plus buy screen, and battery, would be an amazingly low price, I don’t know that I would know what else to buy to assemble all the other parts, and as you can tell I am just getting started so that level of DIY might be a bit too much, even though it could in total cost $1,000 less than the TORCH for all components? (Postcard $175 + Portability Shield[display]$35+$Antenna$100+battery $x, Housing and misc parts $x = about $400 at most?!?!) Is Sparkfun going to offer a new TORCH #2 using PostCard for $500?

If your budget allows for the Torch and PP corrections, then that’s an easy decision
The Torch is a very slick tool.

What firmware version of UM980 are you running for these tests? I note theres a newer version (17548) published on 24th December 2024 than the one on the Torch Github (11883) and I wonder if that would make any difference?

I had not heard Unicore had released new firmware. Can you post the firmware here or a link?

I haven’t found a copy of 17548, but Ardusimple has a copy of 13504 here: https://www.ardusimple.com/how-to-configure-unicore-um980-um981-um982/

Nice! Thanks. I’ve pushed 13504 to the Torch repo. I’ve reached out to Unicore as well for the latest and any change logs.

Im seeing sub decimeter accuracy with the 17548 firmware but very long (>30min) initial convergence times. I’m interested what configuration settings are working well for others?

All my testing has been with firmware 11833. Just did try 13504 with no apparent difference.

Looks like 17548 is mostly about QZSS L6 support.

For testing HAS you just have to use the PPPNAVA sentence. For some unknown to me reason Unicore doesn’t use the same datum for the NMEA sentences. I’ve missed it if there is any documentation on just what datum the NMEA sentences are using.

Not a problem for basic testing once you figure this out, but building a product with the board is another matter.

Just a heads-up, that mediafire link expires in 7 days if anyone wants to grab it or mirror it to the GitHub.
