Hi all.
i am attempting to update firmware on a rtk surveyor v1.8 oct 7 2021.
In teraterm vt it appears to indicate zed-f9p firmware: hpg 1.12.
According to online instructions there should be an “f” option to upgrade firmware from the main menu. I do not see an option f. I have 1-5, d,r and x.
How do i get to option f?
Thank you.
Pierre
Hi Pierre (@pleroux ),
RTK Firmware v1.8 is very old… And probably predates option “f”.
If your RTK Surveyor is really old, it may only have 4MB of flash memory, instead of the usual 16MB.
You will almost certainly need to update using the uploader GUI. If you do have a 4MB Surveyor, the GUI will automatically use the correct partition file. If you try to update manually, using esptool from the command line, please ensure you use the correct partition file.
I hope this helps,
Paul
Thank you.
besides the fsct the firmware is old, why should the firmware be updated if the system is working well even with the old firmware ?
P
If the old firmware is working well for you, there is no need to update. But you will be missing some of the features we added in later versions of the RTK Firmware, and you may not be able to enable some UBX messages which are only supported by later versions of the ZED HPG firmware.
Best,
Paul
