Updating the SIK

Hi Sparkfun,

For the next iteration of the SIK aka v5.0, my vote is to replace the Redboard with a Thing Plus SAMD51.

  1. There are no comparable kits to the SIK featuring Feather form boards (which IMHO are way better than the not-breadboard-compatible/8-bit/USB mini-B) Uno/Redboard) and the Feather ecosystem.

  2. Thing Plus has Qwiic, so SIK v5.0 could be called the SIK-Qwiic kit

  3. Feather! 21 GPIOs versus 20 GPIOs, JST-PH battery connector/charging circuit, USB micro-B power/UART connection…

  4. SAMD51 vs ATmega328 - SAMD51 wins no contest: modern Cortex M4F MCU, FPU, way faster, mo’ memory, integrated USB to Serial, SERCOMS!!!, 12-bit ADC/600 kSps vs 10-bit/76.9kSP, 12-bit DAC vs bit banging…

Another overdue SIK update is replacing the 16x2 display with a OLED Display, such as the Zio Qwiic or similar OLED with SSD1306 controller - way more fun with fewer pins (and cheaper too)…
