I’ve a USB microphone which i usec to use with my laptop. Now i want to use it with my android phone but obviously it requires power, which a phone wont supply. My question is if i use a usb hub, one with say 4 female usb ports can i plug microphone and phone into separate ports and will the data from the mic travel through the hub to my phone? And if not can i build something to achieve this?

Hi Tim.
Unfortunately a hub won’t work. What you need is what’s called a USB-OTG cable made for your phone that allows you to connect a USB device too it. Check with your phones manufacturer to see what OTG cables are compatible with your phone.
Even after you get a compatible cable, there’s no guarantee that drivers exist on your phone for the USB microphone you want to use. It’s possible your phone won’t recognize the microphone and won’t know what to do with it even after you plug it in.
