Hello,
I’m new to this, so bear with me.
I recently purchased the Bluesmirf Gold, and have been trying use it. I have managed to connect between my PC and the Bluesmirf unit via Bluetooth channel (i.e. without serial connection between the PC and Bluesmirf). I believe I have correctly connect to the unit because I was able to enter and exit the command mode. Note that I’ve set my Bluesmirf with the default values (i.e. slave mode).
It’s not clear to me how I send/receive data after I exit the command mode. First of all, do I need to be in the command mode to send/receive data?
The instruction manual from Roving Networks simply states that once Bluesmif exit the command mode, it will be in the data mode. I assume that whatever is received by the Bluesmirf unit via Bluetooth channel, will simply be transferred to the Tx pin of the Bluesmirf unit using the uART protocol. Similarly, I assume that whatever is received by the Bluesmirf unit via the Rx pin will simply be transferred to the Bluetooth channel. The Rx pin also expects data using uART protocol. I am wondering if this is true?
My next question is, how do I use Hyperterminal to send data to Bluesmirf via the Bluetooth channel? To me, the documentation is not clear about this and, I believe, does not provide any instruction/commands to send and receive data. My objective here is to test and understand the connection by sending/receiving simple data.
Last but not least, what do I do with the CTS and RTS pins of the Bluesmirf module? Do I need these pins for the uART protocol?
Thanks for your time,
