Using solar panel and SparkFun Sunny Buddy to power SparkFun Proximity Sensing Kit

I am completely new to SparkFun’s products. I am just starting to conceptualize what will be an outdoor sound installation, and would like to try out SparkFun’s Proximity Sensing Kit to playback an mp3 of recorded spoken words when the sensor is triggered.

Can I power the Proximity Sensing Kit using a Solar Panel and the SparkFun Sunny Buddy? The install will not be anywhere near a power source. I realize I could change out the batteries, but I am curious to know if the circuit (is that the right term?) I am describing will work.

Thank you in advance. I appreciate the help!

Chris

Your idea will work if the solar panel and available sunlight is sufficient to keep the battery you select charged.

Obviously, part selection will involve some research and planning.

Thank you. I appreciate the response.
