Using Sparkfun RTK or Facet with Avenza or ESRI Field maps on iOS

I was wondering if anyone had figured out how to use the Sparkfun GNSS devices with iOS with a mapping app besides SWMAPS. I’ve been using SWmaps and have been able to integrate it into my workflow but my crew is used to using Avenza and it is nice and simple to get them what they need (send PDF, open PDF), we also have an upcoming project where we will likely be using field maps so it would be great to get that figured out as well. I was wondering if anyone figured out a way to get position from the sparkfun device to be used by these applications on iOS. In my little bit of trying it seemed like I was unsuccessful.

Thanks for any insights?

This would be a great use case for an iOS app that connects to a SparkFun device and becomes a location provider to iOS. It’d also be a great potential new feature in SWMaps.

BadElf does this with their products using their app running on iOS that integrates with the iOS location services API. Their device&app then becomes a location provider to iOS, and iOS uses it preferentially. Then (almost?) every iOS app that uses iOS location services is then getting locations from the BadElf device, and not the GNSS chip internal to the iOS device. So apps like AllTrails, Avenza, OnX, Gaia, etc. use the BadElf device’s location solution.

Tho I wonder if ESRI Field would connect to a bluetooth NMEA stream like SWMaps does; might be worth checking out.
