USPS First Class Mail International Shipping Gone??? :'(

A sad day for international shipping :cry:

Yesterday I was shocked to see (at checkout) that “USPS First Class Mail International” Shipping to Brazil was gone! while it was said to be an “unsafe” shipping method it has never failed me before (not only when buying at SF)… In fact ,just today I just received two SF orders that were shipped using USPS First Class about a week ago…

the current available methods are now:

FedEx Priority $95.79

FedEx Economy $85.68

USPS Express Mail International (EMS) - $27.00

…while I used to pay <10$ at USPS First Class mail…

Well this caused me to halt my current order-to-be indefinitely ( 2 of the new nordic boards (WRL-00691))

:frowning: I would like to know why is it gone… Is there any way I could get my orders shipped via the old method? If this is because of it being “risky” I’ll agree to a disclaimer concerning the risks of loss during transport =) how about that ?

We were losing too many packages destined for Brazil. More than half of the lost international packages that have been reported in the past 6 months, in fact. When they are insured, we can file a claim and nobody loses any money.

Because First Class Mail Int’l is uninsured, when a package goes missing, either the customer or SparkFun loses out on the entire amount. There are arguments, harsh words are exchanged, and credit card companies are involved. Due to the high number of lost packages to Brazil, we decided to remove this option. Sorry for any trouble.
