Hi
I am a newbie in this field and this is my first attempt.
My Sparkfun Variable load KIT-14449 is not found by PC when connected via a USB. I have used several USB cables, have tried on several computers (Windows 10 - 64 bit), installed the FTDI drivers, but it is the same result.
Also when connected, the computer does not even show anything on Other Devices in the Device manager.
Please let me know how to properly connect this device with a computer?
Thanks.
Hello,
Can you verify if you followed the instructions found in the [Hookup Guide? You should see, not by name, devices under “Ports”. When you unplug the device, a listed port should go away. The one that goes away is the port you’ll want.
You can also use the Arduino IDE by seeing which ports are listed as active under “Tools/Ports”. A name won’t enumerate, but you can plug and unplug to see which ports that device is trying to use.](https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/variable-load-hookup-guide---revised#operation)
Hi wasi7045.
Have you made any other connections to the board to external devices other than the USB cable? Also, are you sure you have a data USB cable and not a phone charging cable?

Hi,
I have made connections with the load using a power supply. The heat sink heats up during this connection, and the current gradually increases in the power supply. The ‘load on’ led does not turn on as well.
Also I have connected the load kit with a 5V power supply in the ports beside the usb connection, and nothing happens.
First I was using a mobile charging cable for the connection, then I used this https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10215 for the connection, with this cable I have the same result.
Please private message me your order number for this order.
