voip board (e.g. Marvell 88w8618 based)

Hi,

I’d like to see a dev. board based upon e.g. the Marvell 88w8618 controller.

This controller supports analog audio in and out, wifi and usb on the go (and some I/O pins that could be used to drive a small lcd display.

Not too much info on the web but here is the press announcement.

I understood the freecom musicpal could also contain this processor.

Best regards, FM.

Looks pretty cool. USB connector can be added easily. Only thing missing for me is access to some I/O ports. This thing runs linux.

good luck. Marvell isn’t like Microchip or Atmel - you have to practically sign away your first born to get access to their documentation. Hobbyists need not apply. Unless you have a high volume product you are developing, they pretty much ignore you.

I know. Actually I work for a pretty large company and we did business with them earlier, but I got redirected to some ODM, who was not too eager to help. That is why I came here.

Marvell indeed seems pretty paranoid when it comes to releasing documentation and the like.

Not just marvell - broadcom, sigma, realtek, … It’s more the rule than the exception.

I used to think that surface mount was the enemy of the hobbyist/little guy but now I believe it is big paranoid semis.

That’s why I was hoping that olimex would have more luck than me.

Hi people, I am in Iraq and the internet provider is a wireless network that I buy time on. I would like to use my Vonage device, but I need a way to turn the wireless signal to a wired one in order for the Motorola device to work. Is there a way to turn a wireless internet signal to a wired signal for use with a VOIP device? Thanks a lot for any comments on this.
