WAV Trigger - .Wav File size

Hi,

my Question is, if there is a size min. from a Trigger file ( 001_Soundx, 002_Soundy, a.o.).

I tried .wav files with a size About 200-300 kB which worked and .wav files with 20-30 kB didn’t work.

Thank you,

Christoph.

Hello Christoph.

There isn’t a minimum file size, but you must use files in the correct format.

Make sure your files are stereo tracks recorded at 44.1kHz and have no metadata in them. The WAV Trigger will not play a file unless it meets those requirements.

Sorry for being late to this party… there actually is a minimum file size of 8K, which is something like 5ms long. The effect of a file smaller than 8K would be that it simply wouldn’t play. If you’re having problems with files larger than this, please let me know what the symptoms are.

No, every .wav file is bigger than 8K. Maybe the Problem is the Format . I use Audacity and Export the .wav files in 16 bit Windows .wav 44.1 kHz. I leave

the metadata field blank. What could be the Problem?

What exactly are the symptoms? Do they just not play at all or do they play incorrectly?

Not to avoid the issue, but you could use Audacity to add silence to the end of the sample to make the file size larger while keeping the audio short.

The .wav files just don’t Play. I will try to add some silence at the end with Audacity to make the files bigger.

Hi christoph49.

Can you zip your files and send them to me in a reply to have a look at? I may be able to figure out what the issue is.

@robertsonics, Thanks for the information on minimum file size, I did not know that!

OK, here is a sample that doesn’t Play with WAV Trigger. Maybe you can solve the Problem.

Hello Christoph.

Looks like your file is mono and the WAV Trigger can only play a stereo track.

[This video shows how to convert a mono MP3 file to stereo and the process is the same if you wanted to convert a mono WAV to stereo.

I tried it on your file and it’s working for me.

Below is the converted file.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9iIxnMUk7E&feature=youtu.be)

Yes, great. Problem solved. I converted my samples from mono to Stereo and played them with the Wav Trigger

Independent from the Filesize.

Thank you, bye,

Christoph.
