WiFi menu, inserting a numeric pasword

This is the WiFi menu in the “SparkFun RTK Surveyor”, when accessed via Bluetooth SPP

Menu: WiFi

  1. SSID 1:

  2. Password 1:

  3. SSID 2:

  4. Password 2:

  5. SSID 3:

  6. Password 3:

  7. SSID 4:

  8. Password 4:

a) Configure device via WiFi Access Point or connect to WiFi: AP

c) Captive Portal: Enabled

m) MDNS: Enabled

x) Exit

If I try to insert a numeric password like 9.876543, then save and exit, next time I go to that menu I just see a 10, as if it parses the input as a number, not as a string, and then if the number is non integer (e.g. a float or double) it rounds it to become an integer number.

Is there a way to avoid that, e.g, could we instead input “9.876543” or will this be different from 9.876543? Thanks.

Thanks for reporting! I can replicate the problem. Issue is started here: https://github.com/sparkfun/SparkFun_RT … issues/745

I’ll try to get it resolved shortly.

Great, many thanks!

Should be fixed in v4.1RC (release candidate). Please see the docs to update the firmware: https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … re_update/

That was a very quick bug fix, many thanks! Of course, it was not a critical bug, so did not require extensive testing.

I have updated the RTK Surveyor firmware from v3.1 to this new firmware release v4.1, did some testing, and now it will indeed accept numeric WiFI passwords, treating them as strings, I presume.

BTW, tomorrow last day of the year could be written in the USA as 123123, but in Europe it would be written as 311223, and in abbreviated ISO 8601 date format as 231231

Happy to help!

I had heard there was a surge of marriages at the end of the year to try to get married on 123123. Hah! Fun times.
