Facet RTK will no longer connect to Laptop via RTK WiFI Setup

So after many times connecting to the RTK WiFi setup on my laptop using 192.168.4.1 , I experimented and cicked off AP in the WiFi settings. I belive this disabled my ability to now use the WiFi to connect to my Laptop. After a successful Factory reset using thr data cable and terminal program I now get the connection Wifi display back on the OLED screen but I do not get the "RTK "setup showing on my WiFi selections on my laptop. I have spent time with the terminal program enabling different WiFi features. Does anyone have some experience with this?

Start over here https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … and-server - is the old WiFi info still saved in the settings? I would try deleting/replacing/etc if so

Second, I would test using a 2nd Wifi (maybe a hotspot from a phone?) just to ensure it will connect to normally and then re-test with the ‘regular’ network

I’m a dog chasing its tail logging on and off of the terminal program making changes. I know this unit used to see and connect to “RTK Config” in AP mode, it wont now. I have reset to factory a few times. In the Config screen it looks normal, it should connect. No “RTK Config” on multiple devices. Any help would be great.

Also on a side note, my changes made when in the terminal; program dont seem to save

Update , I dont know why my inputs finally saved in the terminal program, I tried typing “save” which is not in the user manual, but it may have worked. I did set to wifi and connect to my home network. Its similar to using AP mode and connecting, I’m glad one works.

Sorry for the slow reply! I got a bit buried over the holiday.

I want to give you two immediate options: you can return the unit to us (please get an RMA at https://www.sparkfun.com/returns) and we can inspect it for proper functionality and get a good unit back to you, or we can try to troubleshoot it via the forums.

The docs for this are here: https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … ap-vs-wifi

By turning off AP mode, the device will attempt to connect to your local WiFi instead of broadcasting as an access point. So no, you won’t see a ‘RTK Config’ wireless network when this mode is set to ‘WiFi’. If you give the RTK device the same WiFi credentials as your laptop’s WiFi network, then the RTK device should connect to that WiFi, and report its IP address on the screen. From there, you should be able to direct your laptop’s web browser to the IP address shown on the display and connect to the config page.

I know this unit used to see and connect to “RTK Config” in AP mode, it wont now. I have reset to factory a few times.

Do you have an SD card in the device? Please remove it for now. There’s a chance that the settings file on the SD card is overwriting the device settings after you factory reset it.

This is very odd. I assume you are entering ‘x’ to exit the menu? Would you please post the output of your device starting up? It should look something like this:

Short story: I believe we found and fixed the bug causing your issue. Please try updating the firmware on your device to d3.11: https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … re_update/

Long story: When you selected WiFi Config, everything worked. When you went back to AP Config, because of this bug (https://github.com/sparkfun/SparkFun_RT … e0a840ec38) the WiFi protocols were not getting set correctly leading to a failed AP start.

This is the same WiFi menu I see when connecting via Bluetooth SPP to the “SparkFun RTK Surveyor”, and when I insert a numeric password like 9.876543, save and exit, next time I go to that menu I just see a 10, as if it rounds non integer numbers, is there a way to avoid that, e.g, could we instead write “9.876543” or will this be different from 9.876543? Thanks.

Please start a new discussion so that folks can find your issue a bit more easily. The OP had an issue getting into WiFi setup page. Sounds like you’ve got an input issue. Thanks!

Done, thanks.

Awesome sauce, thank you!
