Wireless device to multiple other devices

I am working on a device that mainly communicates with a PC. I would like this device to be able to communicate with a special hand control box that we would make, and it would be really cool if I could write a Droid app that could be used to control the device too. So I have been considering using Bluetooth for the communication. Do you think there is a better technology other than Bluetooth. The range should probably be at least 100 feet (open air).

I have been looking at using the RN-41 Bluetooth transceiver and just using the serial interface that the implement so easily. If I put one of these in the device and put it in master mode, is it possible to connect a PC to it and a hand control box (which contains another RN-41 module in slave mode) at the same time so that either slave is capable of controlling the device?

Are those little $10.95 USB/Bluetooth adapters that plug into a PC capable of acting as a slave and connecting to a host device? I would like to use that on the PC end.
