Xbee module not responding

Hi guys,

I’m asking here because I’ve had no luck elsewhere.

I have two XBee ZB24-AWI-001 (series 1) modules that I am trying to configure. I have a USB board from droids.it that I am putting each module into and trying to connect to them from X-CTU. So far I have had zero response from the modules using all possible baud rates.

I’m at my wits end trying to get the modules working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jarrad

This is common.

Of course, you are sure that the serial voltage level and wiring is correct, yes?

Otherwise, Digi tech support has bailed me out a few times on tricks to get XCTU to talk. It involves things like taking XCTU at 9600 baud or some other, to a given stage, then actually plug in the Xbee with power already applied to the socket. Have you called them?

I’ve had people mail me their XBees to revive them.

Happy to do so - you pay postage

The wiring should be correct as the module just plugs into the droids board and its the only thing the board is designed for.

I’ve lodged a request with digi but yet to hear anything back

try phone support.

I’ll help as above if you are dead-ended.

I’ve abused XBee series 1 badly. Plugged in rotated 180 and so on. Never smoked one.

The do sometimes get into won’t respond mode after abuse but with the little Digi dev board and magic sequences told me by Digi, they all are revived.

Thanks for all the replies.

I eventually traced the PCB and found a solder bridge between the TX line and GND meaning nothing was talking.

I removed the bridge and it’s all talking fine now.
