XBee teensy adaptor makes it so that lipo charger never shuts off

Hello!

I’m having a problem with my xbee teensy adaptor board. I am using the onehorse lipo charger/adaptor for the teensy found here: https://www.tindie.com/products/onehors … teensy-31/

When the switch for the battery adaptor (positioned right beneath the teensy) is in the off position, the red LED should be off, but, when I attach the teensy to the Xbee adaptor, the light comes on. It seems that there is some connection to VIN happening in the Xbee adaptor. The teensy and battery charger work just fine without the Xbee adaptor, so I know it’s something happening there. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find what’s causing this connection. Is this something anyone else has encountered? I’m hoping for some technical assistance with this issue:)

I tried to upload a video, but it doesn’t seem to be allowed. In its place, here are before and after pics of the teensy being connected to the xbee, showing that the light comes on after connecting.

Thanks!

Tom

Hi Tom.

We don’t have any information on your charger so we probably can’t help that much with this. The only thing I can think of that might be causing your symptoms is that the combination of shield, Teensy and XBee together may be drawing enough current from your battery that the charger thinks the battery is not fully charged causing the charger to activate. You can test that by putting a larger battery (2000mAh) on the charger and seeing if the problem goes away.

If that doesn’t fix the issue, it may just be that your charger isn’t compatible with the Teensy + shield combination.
