I am needing to use the zed-f9r for a gps project, but need to use the 04B version as it has railway capabilities for dead reckoning. When would this be available? Thanks so much.
I have tried to get the dead reckoning working in a car and on a bicycle without any luck, but was running it a lot on a train with no luck either, so any and all suggestions to that would be welcome.
Hi @blade_790 - Welcome! Generally speaking, the -XX# delineates the firmware that is running on the ZED-F9R so that manufacturers can ‘pick’ or lock in a firmware for their build, but it’s just the firmware that is pre-installed and can be changed via firmware update. We have sold many variants of the ZED-F9R over the years, starting with -00B. I think we’re shipping -02B but I need to double check. You can purchase the breakout board and upgrade the firmware to HPS 1.30 making it a functional equivalent to the -04B.
Hi - have you had any luck with the dead reckoning? Care to share any lessons learned? I’ve implemented a wheel tick sensor on a bike, but I am unsure if my tick count messages are being used.
Try running through our guide (if you have the pHAT it is a bit further down, see the ToC on the right side) that covers how to wire up the encoders/enable the wheel ticks
