38khz ir transistors

Would be great if you guys could get in some ir transistors with a center frequency of 38khz.

I think you mean an IR receiver with a 38 KHz center frequency. An IR receiver contains a photo transistor and a bandpass filter to extract the data from the signal superimposed on the IR beam.

I have used Sharp receivers in the past but have switched over to the Vishay TSOP xxxx series. The 38 KHz part is TSOP1138. The Vishay parts are carried by Mouser as well as other vendors and cost about $1.25.

Now you guys need to carry them because every place else charges way to much for shiping.

I second the Vishay recomendation. I’ve used their TSOP32238 in the past, and it’s worked quite well. It has a wider voltage range, 2.7-5.5v instead of the 4.5-5.5 on the TSOP1138.

If you only need a few, Vishay is great with samples.

Yea I’m trying to sample a few from them the one is out of stock for 6-8 weeks. :shock:

The TSOP1100 is a unique wideband 33 to 57 kHz receiver. It isn’t in the product matrix on the Vishay website, and it isn’t in the 11xx series spec sheet.

It is very sensitive and may have some glitches in the output if the remote is too close.

The Fairchild QSE156/7/8/9 is another unique part that provides a raw (not demodulated) signal. It works from a few inches to more than a foot depending on the power of the remote. Useful for determining the carrier frequency and high resolution capture for analysis.
