I use PCB-Pool:

Hi Leon

Thanks for that, I ran up a quote for a 100x120mm board and it costs 150 euro…

It’s quite a bit, am I likely to find anything cheaper?

Kind regards

Maybe, but the quality might not be as good. The boards I’ve had from them have generally been excellent. When they have made a mistake they have sent another set of boards very quickly - it’s only happened a couple of times. They can do 0.3 mm holes, not many low-cost PCB suppliers can do them.

That’s a fair enough point, I have found another crowd called PCB123 but for some reason it appears you MUST use their software to submit designs, whereas all my work is in Protel.

Any other experiences welcome…

Thanks again

For 4 layer boards, I’ve used www.protoexpress.com once.

summary: 4 layer, “no touch” boards, $51 dollars per board (up to 60sq inches), 3 boards minimum (used to be 2 boards minimum).

No Touch means they don’t do any testing whatsoever. What you send them is what you get, so be careful in that respect…

Thanks for that, it looks very promising.

It’s true, if you’re confident you don’t nned electrical testing then you’re getting 3 boards for the price of the pcb-pool quote.

Thanks again

I’ve been using www.pcbfabexpress.com for my 4 layer prototype PCBs. I’m happy with their quality and delivery times.

http://www.pcbex.com is $28 for a 20sq.in. 4-layer board, min Qty 5, 10-day turn (+ shipping time). That’s $158 incl shipping for a full-spec board - mask and silk on both sides, and even gold finish at no charge if you ask.

These guys include basic DRC for this price. (They caught some under-spec silkscreen, which Eagle unfortunately doesn’t DRC.) They also offer v-scoring and allow arrays for a reasonable fee.

http://www.protoexpress.com has a better deal going with their no-touch service if you need 20-60 sq.in., and if you’re very confident about your DRC, and the extra boards aren’t needed. It used to be an outstanding deal when the minimum was 2x. Everyone who’s used them has spoken highly of the quality.

These are the best two deals I’ve seen in a couple years of referrals and keeping notes.

Sorry, NJPCB - you guys are spammers, plain and simple.

You litter electronics newsgroups with this same advertisement incessantly, and you are clueless when your gmail accounts keep getting revoked for abuse. See http://groups.google.com/groups?q=sales%40njpcb.com

People who’ve actually used your service complain that you ignore inquiries, your quality is poor (like soldermask that flakes off), you have poor customer service, and that you only take payment via wire transfer (very expensive to do) or paypal. Conveniently, these payment methods provide the customer no protection if you deliver poor product.

Now you go to the effort of spamming discussion threads in another PCB provider’s forum. You are unethical in your advertising, and smart people will not trust you to be ethical in your services.

There are plenty of ethical low-cost services to do business with, like the others mentioned in this thread.

Now, GO AWAY!

Damn Richard. Don’t hold back. Tell the man how you really feel!

No sense in sugar-coating it, now. Life’s too short to be subtle.

I’m glad to see the SF crew is deleting (or creatively re-writing) their posts. Unfortunately not so easy to “fix” on Usenet.

Cheers,

Richard

The worst thing is, this spam is posted by phpBB “bots”. So no one but us non-spammers will ever read your reasoned and eloquent rebuttal, Richard.

For what it’s worth, though, I’m sure we all agree with you

Too bad phpBB doesn’t have a “flag as SPAM” button for posts. Still, I suppose it would be abused…
