BSS138 3V3 <-> 1V8?

Hi,
First post here, so be gentle please… hope I’ve got the right category.

I want to connect an AS7343 to an Arduino, maybe a Wemos D1 or a Uno, via I2C. The AS7343 is a 1.8V device, so I need an IIC-compatible level shifter. There’s lots of information on the Internet about shifting betwen 5V (and higher) and 3V3, but I can’t find anything about shifting between 3V3 and 1V8.

Can I reliably shift between 3V3 and 1V8 using the common BSS138 Logic Level Shifter board? Or should I go to a 5V Arduino device?

I’ve never tried it but it should work. Put 3.3 volts on the 5 volt side and 1.8 on the 3.3 volt side and give it a try.
