Hello I’m contacting you about a problem on my order 10418334,
The order contained a motor : ROB-20441 that arrived with the middle wire not solder in the motor (see attachment) rendering it unusable. I however need this motor urgently for school project so I was hoping that since I didn’t ordered it from AliExpress for once, I could get some support on how to disassemble the motor to resolder the wire myself or a replacement motor quickly.
Regards
I don’t have one to compare and the photos don’t show much…but it looks like the yellow wire dives straight down the center
I’m also guessing the motor’s hub is just press-fit on…so you might be able to separate the halves, but it also might damage one or the other during the attempt…so apply pressure evenly to both sides if you do try
You might also be able to see where the wire used to be soldered to if you look into the hole…or maybe take a photo with your phone and zoom…then simply re-solder the wire
Otherwise: Was it purchased from us? If so head over to Return Policy - SparkFun Electronics (contact vendor if purchased elsewhere) and we’ll get ya squared away
so yes it was a purchased from you and the order for the replacement unit is apparently on it’s way so thank you very much for that
but to give you as much insight as possible here is a closer look at the problem,
the middle wire solder was protected by a heat shrink tube so that’s why I can’t solder it back simply. And since I need this motor for a very precise application I’m afraid soldering the wire back on middle of the coil might result in a lot of the wire being solder together and hence a loss in performance.
Since I will get a replacement part, I’m more confident to try to disassemble it, so I tried, both part of the motor are held in place with a clip ring (or C-ring, I’m not quite sure of the translation) via the motor shaft. but to get to the clip ring you need to first remove the magnet which is press-fit on the shaft, and since it’s very brittle, I broke it while trying to remove it. Then after removing the clip ring both part comes apart. But as you can see in the picture the coils are on the top part and I couldn’t remove them, so I couldn’t get access to where the wire are solder.
