I’m using the Sparkfun Surveyor with SW Maps and it’s working great. One thing I’m not sure about is if I need to subtract the instrument height out of the orthometric height? Or does SW Maps make the subtraction automatically? The data I export from SW Maps provides the orthometric height and the instrument height as separate columns. This leads me to believe I need to subtract out the instrument height but I’m not 100% sure.

The Elevation and Ortho have both already been reduced by the Instrument Height by SW Maps automatically. Consider the ‘Instrument Height’ as metadata only, to help you find blunders from the fieldwork.
IE: you needed to adjust your Rod Height for a specific shot, but you forgot to change it back afterwards 
You can correct the subsequent shots in the office with the metadata.
Swmaps have (has, not HAS) also the upload of custom
geoid.gtx feature and ortho_ h recording…
into settings.
