Hi,

I’m a programmer and would like to develop a system where I can get a drone to fly to a certain location. As it will use GPS to do this, it’ll need to feedback to my computer, with its current position on a map and a live camera feed. However, it could be miles away from my computer. Is there any form of communications which is possible over massive distances without costing me thousands?

Aeroplanes can communicate with air traffic control over a long distance, so surely it must be possible.

You could try LoRa, which uses low cost long range modules. Line of sight is required (for the camera feed as well), but a range of many miles is possible. http://www.loratracker.uk/

Laws in many localities require drones to be in view of the operator at all times.
