I changed the solder jumpers on the subject board to be both 0. Setting it to 1.8V output and soldered some legs onto the input and output.
Initial test using a 5V input seemed to be working correctly with 1.8V measured on the output.
Then tested using 12V input. Output only showed 1V and EN pin showing 0V.
Went back to 5V input, but now output is at 0.2V.
It is supposed to support up to 20V, but applying 12V seems to have broken it?! What tests can I perform to see what is wrong?
Hello.
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble!
Can you post some photos showing how you have the device connected up? What additional parts do you have connected to the board?
I don’t have it connected to anything other than an input voltage and a multi-meter currently:
12V input:
5V input:
I can’t tell where you’re feeding 12 volts into the board and where your meter is. Can you confirm this is your setup?
Yes that is the set up. In my pictures input is from the top and the meter is connected at the bottom.
OK, thanks for confirming that!
I’m not sure what has failed on your board, but it’s definitely not working correctly. If you purchased the board directly from the SparkFun website, I need you to go to this page and fill out a RMA request. Be sure to include your order number and in the “Why do you want an RMA?” box include a brief description of the issue and the URL to this forum post and we will get a replacement sent to you.
If you purchased the board from one of our distributors, they will be happy to assist you in getting a replacement.
I have mailed the distributor about it and linked them to this thread. I just thought maybe there was something I could test or it could be a known failure condition…
Yeah, I’m not sure what happened, I’ve not seen one fail like this before.
The distributor will get you all fixed up though.
Have a great weekend!
