Hi Rosedale - We have found most of the issues . Provisioning was failing during the serial terminal but should be working at power on. Said differently, if you give your device a SSID and PW for the home network, then power cycle your device, it should work. We have a new firmware ready that will fix the serial terminal bug here: https://github.com/sparkfun/SparkFun_RT … tag/v2.5RC
I loaded the “RTK_Surveyor_Firmware_RC-Sep_09_2022.bin” file using the Windows GUI.
The device does not turn on now. No response at all when power it on.
At this point I have to return the entire device for one that if I follow the directions on the website it will work. I initiated a return from here: https://www.sparkfun.com/returns . Is there anyway I can have one here by the end of this week… 9/16/2022? If I overnight, you all receive it, can Sparkfun overnight one to me? I am willing to pay the extra shipping. I have a job on the 18th I was relying on this for.
Hold power button for ~15 seconds. This will force power off. Force power off does not work if USB is attached.
Now that unit is off, re-attach USB cable
Press and hold power button for 3 seconds. This will power the unit on (regardless of what the display shows).
Watch the enumerated devices under device manager. You should see the CH340 USB port appear. You should now be able to use the GUI to change the firmware.
Firmware v2.5 is a release candidate and as such is not always stable. As Murphy’s law would have it, Sept 9th had other issues and has since been taken down. My apologies for sending you down that route. Once we get v2.5 stable, you can move over.
If you’ve got a return in the works, that’s totally fine. Feel free to tinker as much or as little as you like. I’ll try to get you a working unit before the end of the week.
