Facet L-Band "PP update Failed no wifi"

Hi,

I am not able to get the PointPerfect corrections either when I configure with WiFi or Serial

Configure with WiFi:

I successfully launched the webpage (192.168.4.1) and set the Home WiFi, Password, etc

Save Configurations

Exit and Reset

Nothing saves or resets

See the attachment and notice some of the header firmware info is missing?

Start up the device and see: “Getting Keys” moments later "PP update Failed no WiFi’

Configure with Serial:

I successfully launched Tera Term and set the Home WiFi, Password, etc

Using Tera Term, I pull up the Main Menu, and then select System Status:

GNSS: Online - ZED-F9P firmware: HPG 1.32

SIV: 29, HPA (m): xxxxxx

Display: Online

Accelerometer: Online

Fuel Gauge: Online - Batt (79%) / Voltage: 4.03V

microSD: Offline

L-Band: Online - No Keys / Corrections Received Failed / Eb/N0[dB] (>9 is good): 0.00

Bluetooth (FF3E): Online

Using Tera Term, I pull up the Main Menu, and then select Configure PointPerfect

Device ID: XXXXXXXXXX

Days until keys expire: No keys

  1. Use PointPerfect Corrections: Enabled

  2. Set Home WiFi SSID: NesterNest

  3. Set Home WiFi PW: DaNest147

  4. Toggle Auto Key Renewal: Enabled

  5. Provision Device

k) Manual Key Entry

x) Exit

I can open SW Maps. I am getting 150mm out the box with SW Maps. Not getting anything close to the 14

It sounds like you are doing everything right.

  1. What firmware are you using? This is found when you open the serial menu.

  2. Double check your AP SSID and PW. Try a different AP such as your phone.

  3. Please run option 5) Provision device from the PointPerfect menu and let us know the log output.

I’m guessing you are using v2.4 of the firmware? We’ve just found a bug that causes the AP config to fail. We’ve got a fix in place for v2.5.

I still don’t have a good answer for your problems via serial config. Please let us know what you find.

Greetings, Thank you for the help! I will try it out when I get back in town and reply back.

Hi Rosedale - We have found most of the issues . Provisioning was failing during the serial terminal but should be working at power on. Said differently, if you give your device a SSID and PW for the home network, then power cycle your device, it should work. We have a new firmware ready that will fix the serial terminal bug here: https://github.com/sparkfun/SparkFun_RT … tag/v2.5RC

Following the instructions here:

https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … indows-gui

From here: https://github.com/sparkfun/SparkFun_RT … tag/v2.5RC

I loaded the “RTK_Surveyor_Firmware_RC-Sep_09_2022.bin” file using the Windows GUI.

The device does not turn on now. No response at all when power it on.

At this point I have to return the entire device for one that if I follow the directions on the website it will work. I initiated a return from here: https://www.sparkfun.com/returns . Is there anyway I can have one here by the end of this week… 9/16/2022? If I overnight, you all receive it, can Sparkfun overnight one to me? I am willing to pay the extra shipping. I have a job on the 18th I was relying on this for.

Sorry for the hassle. You should be able to down-grade the firmware. For your purposes I recommend firmware v2.2: https://github.com/sparkfun/SparkFun_RT … s/tag/v2.2

If the display is not working:

  • Detach any USB Cable

  • Hold power button for ~15 seconds. This will force power off. Force power off does not work if USB is attached.

  • Now that unit is off, re-attach USB cable

  • Press and hold power button for 3 seconds. This will power the unit on (regardless of what the display shows).

  • Watch the enumerated devices under device manager. You should see the CH340 USB port appear. You should now be able to use the GUI to change the firmware.

Firmware v2.5 is a release candidate and as such is not always stable. As Murphy’s law would have it, Sept 9th had other issues and has since been taken down. My apologies for sending you down that route. Once we get v2.5 stable, you can move over.

If you’ve got a return in the works, that’s totally fine. Feel free to tinker as much or as little as you like. I’ll try to get you a working unit before the end of the week.

Hi, No worries, Thank you. I am tinkering with it right now. I will let you know what happens.

Hi, I got the 2.2 firmware back installed and it is working like before moving to 2.5 so I can get some thing done. Thank you!
