Facet L Pointperfect accuracy in the UK

I have been trying to undesratnd if the L Band Pointperfect works in the UK.

I have not managed to get passed DGPS ans .3m accuracy.

Is this the real life limit for this product (never mind published requirements)?

I have no issues if I use an NTRIP correction service

It should be working https://www.u-blox.com/en/pointperfect-service-coverage most everywhere in the UK

How is the weather? The L-band units are even more dependent on needing a clear view of the sky (low reflectivity) because they also get their correction data via satellite

Hi,

Tried in different weather condidtions - more or less the same. Very disapointing really as it is nowhere close to the ublox spec sheet.

This compares very bad with a similar service from Trimble on a different GNSS receiver where I get 2-3 cm consistently.

You could try posting/asking if there are any tips/tricks for using PP in the UK on the u-blox forum https://portal.u-blox.com/s/topic/0TO2p … A/services and see if they have any suggestions

Hi aiaccarino,

Let’s be really sure you’ve got all the keys and prep work you need:

Have you successfully provisioned the device? https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … ntperfect/

What is the number of days until your keys expire? It should be >0.

Assuming you have keys, once outside, do you see the three prong satellite icon? (https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … ys/#l-band)

aiaccarino,

I’m an engineer with SparkFun. We have seen a few units that went out without having their ZED firmware updated from the factory version; if you can connect via serial and send the command s to get to the system menu, it will be listed just under “Menu: System”, in the top few lines of output. It should be around v1.32; if it is very old, like v1.13, updating it will likely fix your issue.

I sent a similar message to you on the ublox forum in case anyone else runs across this with the same problem.

SPARTN forms have been supported since HPG 1.20 (15-Jan-2021), there’s been a couple of release to make the decoding more defensive/robust so garbled data doesn’t crash/abend the receiver

HPG 1.30 supports 2.0.1 (17-Dec-2021)

On the ublox forum I transposed 1.30 instead of 1.20 as the minimum version, thanks for catching that. I’ll update it shortly.
