Pity, I’d like to keep an open mind about the vendors approaching us (via this forum) for new business.
I would have to agree with you there, I use GP for all my PCB and assembly needs but I am sure out of the hundreds(?) of Asian PCB manufacturers, there has to be one better suited to my needs.
If these people who are interested in our “fast leadtime PCB proto/sample”, actually started posting setup price + price per sq inch for a 2 layer board, with all the normal things like soldermark, double silkscreen, maybe they might actually get some business from me, otherwise it is just too much of a hassle to submit a quote request to all of them.
GP are good enough for me, and even after all the headaches I give Shane he is still a nice guy.

Agreed, but I think these vendors expect to impress us
with the large number of layers they can undertake, and
their fast turn times. Both are metrics that don’t fit with
a hobby service. Our needs are cost, low volume
(prototypes only), modest compexity, slow turn, and
I do think it’s kind of bad form to advertise a PCB service in a forum dedicated to and funded by a specific PCB Service.
In the case of the OP on this thread, there is no competition to SFE. There is no online quote (you fill out a form) and there is no information that gives you a sense of their costs. That triggers “Next!” in my brain.
By the way, fast turn times are something I care about. The reason I don’t use the SFE service is I am unwilling to wait weeks.
StandardPCB:
Delivery time: 3days for production + Express time
Packing price for PCB: US$150.00
Price for ship to USA: US$30.00
That’s quite expensive don’t you think?
Let’s sum your price up:
Total area = 20sq. in.
Total cost = $180 including shipping
Time from order to ship = 3 days
Sure its a pretty quick lead time, but $45 per board?
Lets take a look at the same thing from GoldPheonix
Total area = 89sq. in. panel = 17 boards
Total cost = $89 including shipping
Time from order to ship = around 5-6 days
Sure you get 13 extra boards, and it takes an extra 3 days, but if it was me I would take the option that was half the cost, and maybe even find a use for the extra boards.
If you are offended by my post, then don’t post on a competitors forums in the first place.
recently,i’m busy in HK show and did not have time to reply here.
in the begining, i must point out that i do not plan to have a price war with yours. what I want to show is just our latest role, and i wish to share with friends here and give them more choices.
in addition, we do not have much interest in tiny orders, which is also not helpful for American custoemrs, as the higher delivery cost.
Yeah, I don’t think there’s a real reason to get upset with you guys. There’s only a few companies posting here, and this is actually good information for electronics enthusiasts. The hardest part about get a lot of boards made is finding an overseas factory that is interested in speaking English, and dealing with small quantities like 100 pieces.
Not all hobbyist projects require only one, unique board. There are some really neat things you can do with many identical circuits; sensor arrays, lights, motor drivers, etc. And if you come up with a good design, it’s very easy to sell online through eBay or your own store.
So I think this type of service has its place. BatchPCB is great for those few prototype boards, or one-off. The board houses that want larger orders are good to file away for larger scale ideas.
I also found the problem. and will pay more attention to other place for promotion.
Anyway, I learned a lot here. Thank you, every friend!!
