GM862 modem

I want to buy one GM862 cell phone modem and I wanted to know if anybody knows what modulation format the GM862 uses to send serial text data. My intent is to feed the GM862 with a serial string and then having a landline modem on the other end to convert the information back into a serial string. For example is it QPSK? BPSK? or is the format user selectable? Thanks a lot
