GPS and Google Earth

Hello,

New to GPS and before buying the Redboard Turbo and other necessary items to make this device I would like to get clarification on one point and so comments from knowledgeable GPS enthusiasts would be very welcome.

A very dumb question coming up but nonetheless. In this tutorial by Brandon J Williams he shows a Google Earth screenshot of a beautiful location in which Pins are placed at precise locations.

GPS Buff Up: GEO-Mapping with Google Earth

By Brandon J Williams

We added a follow-up GPS tutorial to increase your GPS skills a few weeks ago. Now we want to show you a practical example with a handheld GPS coordinate logger that will pin locations for your viewing pleasure using Google Earth.

The use I have in mind for the GPS device is to serve as a Vehicle Tracker placed inside the glove compartment or wherever and later to load the data and get Google Earth on my computer. Will this have the facility for showing a ‘bread crumb’ trail of the vehicle route including stops/delays?

And is there a way when the GPS device is within the vehicle en route to track its movements live from my base computer?

I said 1 question….that’s 2!

Thanking you in advance for your help.

Yes, just a matter of how you program Google Earth to input and display the data. But I find this web site quite a bit easier to use : https://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map_input

The GPS antenna cannot be enclosed in a metal box, like a glove compartment. It must be placed where it has a reasonably clear view of the sky to function.
