HELP - BlueSMiRF for dummies

Well, I can connect to the BlueSMiRF in command mode (+++) and play with the settings, but how do I just treat it as a serial connection that streams data from my MCU to hyperterm? I have set the baud in my code to 115200, configure the BS to the same, chnaged the name, checked the settings with ATSI command.

But alas, I’m not getting my serial stream??

Anyone out there that can provide some guidance?

Here’s how I have the SMiRF connected:

VCC = 5V

GND

RX to TX0 on MCU TTL (no RS232 shift)

TX to RX0 on MCU TTL

Nevermind, I found the missing link. My MCU has a jumper to either enable RS232 pull up or not. If not, then you have to get the signal from the port pins, not the serial pins. All is working well now :slight_smile:

Now to tune this dang PID.

One question for the mods. What word in my post above is/was contraband that it got held for review?

Of, and update, the BlueSMiRF works perfectly. It saved me hours of frustration within the first two minutes of me using it. I was trying to use a serial LCD (2x16 I might add) and was getting nowhere. When I was able to capture all of my data and have a look, I saw my error immediately.

I’ve since added an interactive menu to allow me to test PID tuning parameters and run a motor test. Then I’m able to take the output data and plot it in Excel to visualize the result of the PID corrections.

To be honest, I don’t know. I just punched it into the “test” box and the post came back all pass :/. After 2 days + 3 posts, you’re exempt from spam filter checks anyhow.
