How should RTK Surveyor be turned off when logging to SD card

I’m running 3.9 on RTK Surveyor. Configured to log raw to SD card. I turned off the surveyor, removed the card, and the file was shorter than expected. ( < 1GB file on 4 GB card)

Is there anything that needs to be done when turning off? Should I wait for the base LED to flash red (SD write) before turning off?

You don’t need to do anything but power down the unit. The log files are correctly closed before power is turned off.
