By process of trying most of the options, was able to communicate with Surveyor 3932. For example, when I tried the USB Serial <=> CONFIG ESP32 via Kai Morich’s excellent USB Serial Terminal, that worked, but option “f” (for firmware update) was not on the main menu. And wifi config didn’t work. And bluetooth config partially worked, but not usefully.

This is a lot of roadblocks for “civilians” to encounter, a lot of “insider” knowledge, 0 to 60, to have to pick up on unboxing day.

If your Hookup Guides and SparkFun RTK Product Manual both prominently, at or near the top, could have something like HHGTTG’s “Don’t Panic”:

  • If any of the following aren’t working

  • On your desktop go to {firmware binaries url}

  • Download latest non-RC binary

  • Go to GUI installer binaries url, download/install for your OS

  • Follow directions for GUI installer

    • This would save a good bit of “civilian” frustration. We already know that we don’t know as much as you do, there’s no need to make it painful.
