Logic Analyzer connection to Madbook Pro with USB3

I’m trying to use my USB Logic Analyzer with my Mac.

I installed PulseView. MacOS gave a “cant check for viruses” error and kept it from running. I used the override in the Privacy and Security settings.

I have read and mostly understood the tutorial. I did install fx2lafw driver and selected in in PulseView as suggested in the tutorial

When I plug the device in (usb-c on device to usb-c on MBP) nothing happens. I’ve tried three different USB cables. No LED shining through as is indicated should happen.

According to some on the web, this means the unit is defective or worse has a design defect. Have they been returned or revised?

I would try a windows or linux machine if you happen to have one to test with, if not that’s fine…I’m just curious if MacOS is creating the trouble

If not: Was it purchased from us? If so head over to Returns - SparkFun Electronics (contact vendor if purchased elsewhere) and we’ll get ya squared away

Thanks. Unfortunately I don’t have Windows and my Linux is on a VMWare image on MacOS!

Yes it was purchased from you.

Is there an analogous product that is known to work with Mac?

We just carry that one currently; it may function with some workaround (downgrade OS, hardware settings, etc) but it may require experimenting

Hi @pitosalas ,

It is WAY more expensive, but the Saleae Logic 8 is superb. Their software is available for both Intel Mac and Apple Silicon.

I hope this helps,
Paul

Another vote for the Logic 8. (Or the Logic 4, both work great!)
