Looking for a blue tooth chip set and battery that are small enough to fit inside a marble. Can anyone help?
Many of the Bluetooth chipsets come in 6*6 BGA package, which would fit. Try www.CSR.com. You will have some mechanical challenges getting crystal, battery, antenna etc to fit.
What bluetooth profile are you looking to support ?
Ribbotson, I am in way over my head! I’m trying to find components to have someone build me a prototype. Besides crystal, battery and antenna…what else do I need? I don’t know which profile I’m looking to support but the product needs to communicate with a cell phone within a short distance…a few meters. You help would be very much appreciated!
What are you wanting to communicate ?
Is it simply presence, or is it more complex data such as orientation, light, impact etc ?
Or do you want to send large data volumes ? Maybe speech ? These are the things which determine additional complexity.
The bluetooth part is really just the chip, crystal, and antenna, plus some resistors and caps. You also usually need a small external memory. For the power you have the battery and some regulator. What do you need to add for the marble to do something ?
Your solution will also be very dependant on quantity.
Does the prototype need to be so physically small.
A couple of picture to show the parts.
The USB device has the 66 mm CSR device and the other has the 88 device. the antenna is integral to the USB, but external on the other . The other board has smaller crystal(silver rectangle) and memory package. Regulator is on back of USB. Two other small devices on bottom left of non USB are interface for antenna.
