My battery appears to have the wrong connector

On August 19, 2015 I ordered a PRT-08483 2000 mAh battery and a Sunny Buddy (order #2049024). My project got a bit delayed(!), but I’m finally getting around to trying to use them together.

Except my battery has the wrong connecter. Here’s a photo of my battery connector, next to the Sunny Buddy: https://imgur.com/pp5ijhl

Looking at the product page from back then for the battery via archive.org, https://web.archive.org/web/20150905070 … ducts/8483 , I see that it was supposed to have a female connector.

I’m obviously way past the return window for this order, so any suggests how to deal with this?

One idea is to get some 2 pin female to female JST cables, but searching around all I’m finding is male to female. I could get two of those, cut them in half and splice the two female ends together.

But looking at the Sunny Buddy schematic, it seems that the two places for load connections are parallel to the battery connection. I’ve got some PRT-10571 screw terminals. Could I just solder one of those to one of the loads, but the male JST connector off the battery, and connect the battery wires to Sunny Buddy that way?

(BTW, even though the battery has been sitting unused for 6 years, it is showing 3.7 V. Shouldn’t it be totally self-discharged by now?)

Thanks

There’s a socket plugged onto the connector on your battery, just pull that off and you’re good to go.
