I’m new the ARM and I have Olimex’s LPC-2106 proto board. Can anyone tell me what would be the best Win XP (Home) debugger for interfacing with this board?
Thanks!

The choice for debugger for Philips 2106 board can be ARM JTAG. You will have to select a development eniviroment, too.
There are choices between GCC (free), and a professional package like EWARM from IAR. There are is a nice tutorial available from my web page or Olimex, or sparffun on starting with Philips 2106.

Is it worth spending the time to get the free stuff or would I best forking out some $ and buy the software?
It is a matter of preference on GCC or professional package like ADS or EWARM, I think. Surely there is also difference in code optimization, too. However, a pros package like ADS (legal) is not cheap. Check the ARM web site (http://www.arm.com/products/DevTools/pr … tools.html)you can find the price tag on ADS. For EWARM, there is a free 32K kickstart version.
Personally, I would go for tools that have more tutorials, books, and tools available. For my place, there is a lot of information on ADS, say.
